Chapter 35 Question #1

Since Jon McNab and Maniac are not exactly friends why would Maniac lie to Russell and Piper about John striking him out with the Stop Ball?

    Maniac likes to please people, and because John is embarrassed about Maniac's home runs Maniac wanted to help him.

    Maniac also might not want John to be mad at him ( John is VERY infamous)and wants to stay on his good side.

    I agree with the answers above, but i also think Maniac wanted to start over with McNab. he might see something good behind the tough act.
