Chapter 15

Why does Mrs. Beale slap Jeffrey?  I thought she really liked having him in the house.

  1. I think that Jeffrey talking in that style through her off and made her uncomfortable, enough so that she would slap him. Jeffrey always seemed like a polite boy to her, and she didn't appreciate him speaking to her the way he herd others speaking on the street.

  3. the reason is that Jeffery has learned trash talk from Hands Down. because Jeffery love the spirit or soul in these words so he brings the words home and when Ms.beale heard him trash talking she slapped him to teach him a lesson.

  5. Ms. Beale doesn't want Jeffrey to be like other boys in gangs, going around swearing and bullying other kids. When she heard how rude he was talking she was so shocked that she slapped him to show him how to behave. It wasn't a mean slap, just a shocked slap to make Jeffrey aware that what he was saying was rude.
