Chapter 1

Near the end of chapter one Jeffrey (Maniac) screams out Talk! Talk, will ya. Talk! Talk!

-Why was he so upset with his aunt and uncle?

  1. Because they don't talk! He has to schedule who he's going to eat dinner with! He wants regular parents, not ones that hate each other but don't get a divorce because their religion tells them to. They can't even sit next to each other! They sit on opposite sides of the room! Can you imagine living with such stubborn people? It must be horrible...!

  2. I agree with rotem if they were my gardiens i would run away just like he did and he said it because in his house they proebly didn't talk that much either so thats why he told them to talk

  3. But I live in a divorced family and I don"t scream at people to speak to each other. I mean he acted a little odd don't you think?

  5. Max, I get what you're saying, not all divorced people scream at each other. The thing is, Maniac's aunt and uncle have seperate everything; TVs, bathrooms, bedrooms, and they SCHEDULE TIMES TO EAT WITH MANIAC. And in the play they SAT ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE GYM. Doesn't that seem a little childish? And they're not divorced because of their religion. Imagine having to put up with that for 8 years. I geuss that during the play he just exploded and everything sank in.
It was a little odd, I agree, you don't scream in the middle of a school play and then run away, but I get why he did.

  6. Exactly TJ, and I just can't imagine living like that. Although it must have broken their heart when he ran away...

  7. Very insightful comments everyone. You're right Max not all divorces are like this...this seems very bad. Maybe some hyperbole? Keep up the great comments.

  8. Mr. Janow? Since we were supposed to read chapters #1 and #2, why is there no question for #2?

  9. I get your point Rotem but of all things that could have sounded accusing why "Talk!"...

  10. No, don't get me wrong, I do agree that it's odd to do that, he should have done something else and not have run away.

  11. Yeah, I must agree with all these comments. His guardians went crazy about how to act towards one another due to their hate, and I suppose that drove Jeffery crazy in the end

  14. I live in a divorced family also and it isn't like that. Actully there is less yelling now then there was before the divorce. Even though you know your parents are happier, its hard for everyone...good situation or not. I have a friend and the only way her parents communicate is through family court. They hate each others guts! Sounds like a good situation, right? JK
